Arizona Superintendent Gail Pletnick to be Named AASA President-Elect

Alexandria, Va. – May 19, 2016 – Gail Pletnick, superintendent of Dysart Unified School District 89 in Surprise, Ariz., was named 2016-17 president-elect of AASA, The School Superintendents Association.  

“As we build strong professional networks of superintendents across the country, I am thrilled to welcome Gail Pletnick as our next president-elect,” said Daniel A. Domenech, executive director, AASA. “An active member of AASA’s Digital and Personalized Learning Consortiums, she is already serving as a national ambassador to support school district leadership on two of the most critical issues in education. I look forward to working with her as we continue to reshape our nation’s public education agenda on behalf of our children and the achievements of our school systems.”    
 
The 2016 Arizona Superintendent of the Year, Pletnick has been a member of AASA’s governing structure since 2008 and has served on the organization’s executive committee since 2013. She has also been a member of the Arizona School Administrators Association since 2002.
