Newtown Superintendent to Speak Before Congress
Newtown Superintendent of Schools Dr. Janet Robinson is among a panel of speakers who will testify during a Democratic Steering & Policy Committee Hearing on Wednesday.
The hearing, called "Gun Violence Prevention: A Call to Action," is being held by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. The hearing will discuss what can be done to prevent future gun violence and learn from the wide range of experience and expertise presented by the invited panelists.
In addition to Robinson, panelists include:
- Michael A. Nutter, Mayor, City of Philadelphia
- Scott Knight, Chief of Police, City of Chaska, Minnesota and Former Chair of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Firearms Committee
- Ms. Emily Nottingham, Mother of Gabe Zimmerman
The hearing will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m.
