AASA’s Conference Newsletter Receives Top National Award

Alexandria, Va. – June 22, 2021 – AASA’s Conference Daily Online received the gold medal in the onsite convention newsletter category of the 2021 EXCEL Awards. The association’s entry consisted of several days of coverage of the 2020 National Conference on Education, held in San Diego, Calif.
The 41st annual AM&P Network EXCEL Awards are the largest and most prestigious program recognizing excellence and leadership in association media, publishing, marketing and communication. With 240 awards presented across 82 categories, the ceremony culminated with the EXTRA! Award, honoring the most outstanding entry across all categories.
“Year in, year out, Conference Daily Online has provided outstanding wall-to-wall coverage of AASA’s national conference to ensure that the leadership of our nation’s school districts are kept apprised of the relevant information and insights available in the public education landscape,” said Daniel A. Domenech, AASA executive director. “I congratulate Jay Goldman and his staff for routinely producing rich content on behalf of our membership and other public education decision makers.”
The e-publication includes coverage of key speakers, topical sessions, announcements of award winners and AASA governance activities, plus photos and short videos from each day of the conference. The online site also included daily blog postings about conference experiences by four AASA members, a continuous Twitter feed and Facebook page updates. Last year, School Administrator magazine won the silver medal in the magazine general excellence category for the 10,001-20,000 circulation.
“For more than 30 years, it has been a professional honor and privilege for me to report on the myriad of activities at our national conference,” said Goldman, editor-in-chief of Conference Daily Online. “This publication is our way to reach out to school system leaders and advocates of public education and provide them with informative news coverage at our big annual event.”
