Alexandria, Va. – April 22, 2021 – As school districts are working diligently to reopen their school buildings in the safest manner possible in the current COVID environment, AASA, The School Superintendents Association, is welcoming a new School Solutions partner, R-Zero, a pioneering biosafety company dedicated to reducing the spread of infectious disease.

R-Zero’s hospital-grade UV-C disinfection system, Arc, is proven (via independent third-party lab testing) to destroy 99.99% of surface and airborne pathogens — including coronavirus, seasonal flu, staph and norovirus — in the average classroom in less than 7 minutes. A sustainable and eco-friendly disinfection solution, UV-C reduces chemical consumption and exposure, and is safe to use around food surfaces, electronics, furniture and more. Today, Arc is currently enabling safety and restoring trust across more than 200 school campuses (accounting for more than 100,000 students and teachers across the country).

“The gold standard in hospitals, UV-C light has been used for more than a century and is one of the most effective ways to kill bacteria, viruses and molds on surfaces and in the air. However, these solutions were previously cost-prohibitive to organizations outside of hospitals,” said Grant Morgan, CEO and co-founder of R-Zero. “R-Zero is proud to be supporting education leaders in achieving the highest standard of health and safety for their students and staff at an accessible cost.”

“Our partnership with R-Zero and the return on our investment is immeasurable,” said Gary Tipsord, superintendent, LeRoy (Ill.) Community Unit School District #2. “This simple and highly effective machine helped solve one of the most complex problems we have ever faced in public education and will continue to benefit our entire school system even after the immediate threat of the pandemic is over.”

“Working to safely get and keep schools open while addressing learning recovery begins with ensuring the safety of our school buildings,” said Chuck Woodruff, chief operating officer, AASA. “AASA is focused on providing our school districts with the resources and necessary supports through the pandemic and beyond.”

With built-in LTE connectivity, Arc also shares usage data in real time, providing education leaders with a first-of-its-kind auditable trail of disinfection activity. The R-Zero Arc is an eligible disinfection equipment expense under ESSER funding.
