Putting the Pieces Together:

Maintaining a healthy school environment is critical for the overall well-being of students. For the past several years, there has been a growing focus on maintaining healthier school environments due to the prevalence of chronic illnesses, such as asthma and the direct correlation to poor indoor air quality.

Putting the Pieces Together: An Urban School Leader’s Guide to Healthy Indoor Environments details challenges faced by the average school district such as overcrowding, financial barriers, and effective communication when considering the school environment and the impact of these issues in an urban setting.

The helpful guide was created with firsthand input from the Urban Healthy Schools Coalition, and offers practical action steps to creating and maintaining a healthy school environment. This guide is essential for all levels of leadership in a school district. Everyone plays a role when keeping students healthy; it’s only in putting the leadership pieces together that public schools can be sure schools are ready for its students.
