Webinar: How to Avoid the Summer Slide and Jump Start the New School Year: Lessons From the Field

Low-income students suffer disproportionate learning loss. Join this AASA webinar to learn about leveraging community schools to drive school improvement. A community school helps children and youth succeed, especially those students who face opportunity gaps. Systems of community schools help communities thrive, aligning community assets and resources toward shared goals. This webinar will feature Ramona Bishop, superintendent of the Vallejo City Unified School District, Calif., who will share the district's full-service community school strategy which is being implemented to improve school climate and academic achievement for all students. Martin Blank, President of the Institute for Educational Leadership, will highlight successful local community school strategies from across the country and discuss the community school movement at the national level.
