Professional Development Programs
The AASA Leadership Development department addresses the leadership needs of school leaders through partnerships with AASA state affiliates and established national and regional networks.
In addition to the AASA staff, AASA's Focus on Leadership for Learning Committee provides guidance to the department. The department plans, develops and provides exemplary professional development for all AASA members and nonmembers alike.
Conferences and meetings are held at various times throughout the year to provide 'hot topic' knowledge and expertise for the education community. The AASA National Conference on Education is the premiere professional event in the country. Exciting and thought-provoking speakers provide presentations that offer many tangible take-aways for the seasoned administrator as well as the novice practitioner.
In addition to AASA's regularly scheduled conferences, there are specific meetings and workshops designed to give education professionals the very best training possible in order to increase student achievement.
Looking to create a change in your school district or school? The AASA Executive Leadership Series starts with Inside Innovation which is built upon the most comprehensive research project ever undertaken. Tuck School of Business Professors Vijay Govindarajan and Chris Trimble have distilled years of research into a classic parable that helps leaders discover how to implement innovation inside an existing system. We will be posting new dates for the 2012 workshops soon.
Interested in coaching and mentoring your colleagues and staff? Attend the POWERful Coaching for Powerful Results program. Karla Reiss, AASA executive consultant and certified coach instructor offers several workshops every year. This is a highly sought after certification and one that may lead to a professional career outside of the school district. New partnership offers AASA members online courses, developed by Battelle for Kids, to help district administrators build understanding around strategic compensation as an educational-improvement strategy.
In addition to these events, we offer Virtual Seminars, 'Hot Topic' workshops and personalized programs.
