10 Past Presidents Under the Spotlight

AASA always takes time at its national conference to honor the men and women who committed a year to the role of association president.

During the 2010 conference’s 3rd General Session, 10 of those who served as AASA president were recognized under the spotlight.

One of those past leaders, Randy Collins of Waterford, Conn., said before introducing them individually: “The American Association of School Administrators has a great history, and we have built on that history from those who went before us. Every year we have folks who step forward and run for president and once elected they travel widely representing our profession. I would like to introduce the past presidents who are with us this evening.”

Past presidents honored at the morning session were: Earl Ferguson (1986-87); Dean Speicher (1989-90); Robert Fox (1993-94); Roland Haun (1994-95); Daniel Domenech (1998-99); Joseph Cirasuolo (1999-2000); Benjamin Canada (2000-01); Don Kussmaul (2004-05); Eugene White (2006-07); and Sarah Jerome (2007-08).

Three others attended the conference in Phoenix but were unable to stay for the final general session: Norman Hall (1978-79); Karl Hertz (1997-98); and Don Hooper (2001-02).
